The Ebony Fashion Fair began in 1958, and over the next 50 years the traveling fashion show blossomed into an American institution that raised millions for charity and helped Johnson Publishing Company reach audiences.

The exhibition is presented in three sections modeling the traveling show’s format: Vision, Innovation and Power.

Akram Zaatari is known as one of the foremost artists working in the Middle East today. His photography has recorded moments that compose history. He uses the world around him as a resouce, weaving biographical elements like photographs, personal documents and diaries into narrative videos.

Our city is home to quite the St. Patrick’s Day celebration! The Chicago River goes green as 45 pounds of vegetable dye color the water between Columbus and Wacker drives. Then festivities continue after as revelers parade up Columbus Dr. with floats and flags to the sound of bagpipes.

This parade is packed with all things Irish – colorful floats waving green/white/orange flags, troops of Irish step dancers, booming marching bands and bagpipers, and, of course, anything green! It happens rain or shine and lasts for about three hours. If you want more elbow and viewing room, we recommend snagging a spot toward the start of the parade in Grant Park (Columbus & Balbo).

Brit Floyd presents P.U.L.S.E. 2013, The Pink Floyd Ultimate Light & Sound Experience.

Having performed to over a half a million fans around the world since its first show in Liverpool, England in January 2011, The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Show, Brit Floyd, returns to the USA to present P-U-L-S-E 2013, The Pink Floyd Ultimate Light & Sound Experience, a stunning new three hour show featuring note-for-note performances of five full album sides, including ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Animals’, ‘The Wall’, ‘The Division Bell’, and, in celebration of the 40th anniversary, Pink Floyd’s classic defining album, ‘The Dark Side of The Moon’.

Move, play and explore nature in a safe, friendly museum environment specially adapted to support young children with development differences. A quiet, low stimuli breakfast room offering gluten and dairy free treats for everyone in the family will be served. You’ll enjoy a self-guided tour of the exhibits as well as explore the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven with specialized song and floor time activities.

The Orion Ensemble, winner of the prestigious Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, celebrates Women’s History Month by welcoming guest soprano Patrice Michaels for A Voice from Heaven, the third concert series of its 20th Anniversary Season. Michaels will perform a selection of three arias from her CD Divas of Mozart’s Day: Bado Ma Dove by W.A. Mozart, Per Pieta by Vincenzo Righini and Sereno by Vincente Martin y Soler. Michaels teams up with Orion clarinetist Kathryne Pirtle for three short colorful Vocalises by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Orion pianist Diana Schmück for the Schubert favorite Der Hirt auf Dem Felsen (The Shepherd on the Rock), and Orion violinist Florentina Ramniceanu and cellist Judy Stone for Music, the last of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Seven Romances on Verses by Alexander Blok, Op. 17, No. 7, written in 1967.

The Festival of New Spanish Cinema returns for its fifth year, this time being integrated with the European Union Film Festival. The Festival of New Spanish Cinema is the most important itinerant festival of contemporary Spanish Cinema in North America. Six of the riskiest and most innovative Spanish films of the year will be screened.
