Leading European lutenist Elizabeth Kenny’s playing has been described as “incandescent,” “radical” and “indecently beautiful.” She joins the peerless British viol consort Fretwork for a program of music by English Renaissance composer John Dowland, who was an inspiration for Benjamin Britten more than three centuries later. Dating from 1604, the Lachrimae is a collection of seven pavans and includes Dowland’s most famous lute solo.
