In the final MusicNOW concert of the season, Cliff Colnotconducts musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in works by Andrew Norman, Anna Clyne and Oscar Bettison. Norman’s work for string trio, The Companion Guide to Rome, gives us nine mediations on the architecture of Roman churches. Clyne’s solo cello work,Fits + Starts, includes choreography by Kitty McNamee from the Los Angeles-based Hysterica Dance Company. The closing piece on this program, Bettison’s Livre des Sauvages, is a musical paraphrase of the eponymous book, a text roughly two hundred years old and of unknown origin describing the lives of native peoples in a mixture of fact and fiction.
